Customer: I received a parking ticket and subsequent impounding of my vehicle. There were signs up for temporary no parking for the following day (when I got towed), but just sporadically up and down the street. So I thought they were doing some random tree work so I parked where there was not a no parking sign. Anyway, car was towed. Turns out they closed the entire block for sealing. Got my car back, parked that night a few blocks away with no temp no parking signs. The next day I went to my car and there were letters on all the cars on the street from the city stating this block would be resealed on friday (tomorrow). I did not get a letter on my car from the city prior to being towed
JA: Because traffic laws vary from place to place, can you tell me what state this is in?
Customer: california
JA: Was a citation issued? Was a court date set?
Customer: no, just the parking ticket. Of course I had to pay to recover my car
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: no

it seems that you were deprived of "due process of law." Due process is defined as "notice, and an opportunity to be heard." You can contest the ticket based on this due process violation. If you are successful the court would probably remit your fine and clear your record.

Customer
how about reimbursing for impounding?
Customer
The ticket is only $71....wouldnt be worth my time to fight it, however the impounding was $310.

You would have to file a claim against the city to be reimbursed for the impound fee. Direct the claim to the city attorney's office.
