My vehicle was towed to a yard after an accident (other driver's fault as per police report). Other driver's insurance

Expert's Assistant chat
Customer: My vehicle was towed to a yard after an accident (other driver's fault as per police report). Other driver's insurance is not moving very quickly and has not examined/evaluated the car yet, but I received two letters today (City of Phoenix and AZ DMV) saying that I need to claim the property of potentially face fines. My understanding is that I need to mitigate financial "damages" even if the other insurance company ends up paying for everything in the end. Should I go get my car towed to my house and pay the yard fees and then seek to recoup the cost from the other driver's insurance?
JA: Regulations vary from place to place, so can you tell me what state this is in?
Customer: AZ
JA: Was a citation issued? Was a court date set?
Customer: Accident was Wed Sept 7 - I talked with the other insurance again today and they hadn't done anything with the claim. I received the letters today (12th)
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: That should do it to start, thanks.

I am very sorry to hear about this.  Yes, get the car towed to your property and the other insurance company will reimburse you for these fees. If the other insurance company is not moving timely on this claim, you can always file a complaint against them with the Arizona Dept of Insurance and that will usually spring them into action pretty quick.  It is free to file the complaint and it can be done online at: https://difi.az.gov/consumers/help-problem/filing-complaint
