I went for a rehearing for a tenancy tribunal but was denied today. they had the wrong phone number for me so I didn't

Expert's Assistant chat
Customer: I went for a rehearing for a tenancy tribunal but was denied today. they had the wrong phone number for me so I didn't get to speak during the hearing and the adjudicator believed everything that my landlord made up and has awarded him $1400 and terminated my tenancy
JA: Just to clarify, where is the property located? These laws can vary based on state.
Customer: Queenstown
JA: What are the terms of the lease? Any issues related to maintenance or upkeep?
Customer: No I actually won the case I brang my landlord for a tribunal hearing and won the case and was awarded $1400 and his case was dropped to get my tenancy terminated but we ran out of time at the court so didn't get to hear his other application so it went ahead afew weeks ago as a teleconference call but the courts had the wrong number for me and they believed the lies he made up and terminated my tenancy
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: Just that my landlord has broke so many laws and actually broken into my house many times without notice but now this new adjudicator has took his side all because they believed all his lies because they didn't have the correct phone number for me

You should apply for a rehearing because you were not able to reply and therefore need to have this  heard again

Customer
I did but they didn't accept this rehearing

Sometimes they listen to the parties and decide something different. You can appeal the decision to the District Court

The case was on November 17th I never received the phone call and he was awarded $1400 and my tenancy was terminated so I applied for a rehearing they rang today and that was the decision nit to allow a rehearing
Customer

Chris The Lawyer, Expert

You can appeal but do so promptly

Customer
I don't understand it says I can't appeal because you only get 10 days I went to courthouse today and the lady at reception explained that she doesn't think i can appeal.
Customer
Are you sure Chris that if I pay the $200 to appeal on Monday when courthouse opens again that I will get an appeal?

Chris The Lawyer, Expert

You can apply for the appeal, but I cannot say it will be granted

Customer
I was told it was $2 and $70 just got taken out of my account why was it saying if I payed $85 I could talk live with the solicitor on the phone?Would it not just be $15 if I have already been charged $70
