I would be happy if you are sparing me a moment and clearing up some details. I have citizenship of Ukraine, my husband

Customer: Hi! I would be happy if you are sparing me a moment and clearing up some details.
I have citizenship of Ukraine, my husband – a citizen of New Zealand. We have been married in Denmark (certificate + apostille). Due to the law of Denmark, I couldn’t change my surname on surname of my husband as a foreigner. But I would like to do it all in all.
Could I change it in New Zealand when I will have permanent residence or citizenship? Or maybe would it possible to get the passport straight with the new surname?
I want to clear this as in Ukraine the process lasts very long (up to 6 month) and I can’t afford to leave my family for so long.
Thank you.
Anna.
JA: Have you talked to a lawyer about this?
Customer: Not yet. That's why I'm texting here
JA: What steps have you taken so far?
Customer: No steps. I just want to know is it possible or not in general, so I will not start this process in Ukraine but simply will wait for the right moment in NZ
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: Not sure. I think it's enough

Under New Zealand law it is very easy to change your name. You can do that by going online to Internal Affairs and completing the forms. It will only take a short time. You will need to do this in New Zealand and when you get residency

Thank you, Chris! In Ukraine to do this could take up to 6 months of bureaucracy, so this option with New Zealand looks great for me. Don't you mind also answering if NZ allows to keep the second citizenship (Ukrainian) or not?
