Hi My name is ***** ***** I am a New Zealand lawyer based in Wellington with more than 42 years of experience. I am here to help with your questions.

Customer
My partner and i are coming to new zealand as she is the one who got the miq spot. She has a valid nzeta and is awaiting her critical travel visa approval. Do you know the laws regarding her entry while her other visa is getting approved
img

Chris The Lawyer, Expert

If she has an NZETA that is her visa, if that has been approved

Customer
The Nzeta was approved. But when my partner got an email saying she had to get an invitation to come to New Zealand and then file for a critical purpose visa
img

Chris The Lawyer, Expert

Does she have those yet? Without those she wont be allowed to get on the plane

Customer
We only got the email about them 2days ago and everything else was approved 3 weeks ago
Customer
We have a critical visa applied for. Is there anyway we can speed it up by calling them as such
img

Chris The Lawyer, Expert

The invitation would come from her NZ employer. Does she have that? That is a job offer. You can call Immigration to check on that-be patient as the waits on the call can be long

Customer
It was a critical visitor visa. Sorry and no she has no job they just said for her to fill out that form and then this visa application.
Customer
They approved her MIq and NZETA 3 weeks ago. Then sent us all this to fill out 2days ago so we were just wondering that was all as our flights leave Monday

It would be best to call Immigration and sort out what they really want. Normally the NZETA would be enough

Customer
Even though the borders are technically still closed
img

Chris The Lawyer, Expert

That is likely why they have asked for the visa, you need to ask tomorrow what they require

img

Chris The Lawyer, Expert

I am sorry I sound a bit vague but the rules are not clear

Customer
Okay thank you for your time man. I agree with that the rules are not clear and also there website is very empty on what they want. We shall call them tomorrow when they are open

And the rules change too

Customer
