Customer: My son has been living in NZ for the last 18 months. He is an australian citizen. He has got into a dispute with his father and now has been charged with assault and willfil damage. If he gets convicted does that conviction come to Australia?
JA: What was the conviction for exactly? Have all appeals been exhausted?
Customer: His father has attempted to drop the charges yet the police do not want to and want to persue. The police is speaking to the prosecutor today and will advise however are offering that if my son pleads guilty they will convict him with no parole so that he can get back to Australia. They are wanting him to be convicted for Assault of family member and wilful damage.
JA: Has he talked to a New Zealand lawyer about this yet?
Customer: No he has not. I received a quote of $2000 NZD to have a NZ lawyer represent him
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: I do not believe so. He does have undiagnosed mental health issues and his father was responsible for being heavy handed on my son as he was growing up.

Hi Chris, I really appreciate your time. My son Jarrod has got into a dispute with his father on Friday night resulting in the Police being called by his father and Jarrod being put in lockup and bailed the next morning. He has been charged with assault of a family member and willful damage - apparently he broke his fathers glasses. Jarrod only knows two people in Christchurch his father and his parents. When he was bailed his conditions were that he had to stay with his grandparents at their address. They refused. I have then had to find accommodation until his court date on the 14th July. Jarrod is no angel and has known untreated mental health condition. He has also grown up with his father on many occasions where he has put him up against the wall during arguments.
