What did you want to know about this? There are some border restrictions because of Covid, and so not many students are permitted entry

250 PhD and postgraduate students

Up to 250 PhD and postgraduate students may be eligible for this exception to our border restrictions if they hold, or have held, a visa to study in New Zealand.

Nominated students must prove they have NZD $15,000 per year for living costs.

1,000 bachelor and postgraduate students

Up to 1,000 bachelor and postgraduate students may be eligible for this exception to our border restrictions if they hold, or have held, a visa to study in New Zealand and they have been nominated by their education provider. Education providers will work with the Ministry of Education to identify eligible students and will provide students with further information.

To be eligible you must:

hold, or have held, a student visa to study in New Zealand that was valid in 2020, and

have studied in New Zealand in 2019 or 2020 and intended to resume study in New Zealand in 2020 but were unable to because of the border closure, and

intend on studying the same bachelor’s degree or post-graduate qualification, at the same education provider, as you were previously studying in New Zealand, and

provide evidence that you have access to at least NZD $20,000 annually for living costs — or NZD $1,667 for each month of study if your programme of study is less than thirty-six weeks, and

provide evidence that you have additional money to pay for managed isolation and quarantine. Education providers may choose to assist students with some or all of these costs. Charges are subject to change.

Student visa applicants who are outside New Zealand can study online without a visa. When New Zealand’s border restrictions are lifted, you can provide evidence of your online study to support your visa application. If you choose to study online in your home country first, you will still need to meet standard student visa requirements to be granted a student visa.

It can depend on where you are from. Some countries will not be able to get a visa due to Covid in their country

There are only limited numbers of students being allowed entry. You can apply online or through the New Zealand consulate closest to you, but I am not sure if many visas will be allowed even for next years
