Expert's Assistant chat
Customer: Qatar airways booked my daughter on a flight which didnt exist which resulted on her been abandoned in Perth instead if her final destination of NZ. We had to pay for a flight out of Perth and she ended up having to go onto isolation
JA: Has your daughter talked to a lawyer about this?
Customer: No we have been in contact with the airline and they are just going to refund her that sectors fare. We paid 1300NZD to get her back to NZ plus she had a total of 4 weeks in managed isolation 2 weeks in each country
JA: What steps has she taken so far?
Customer: We have had email contact and all the information has been sent to them plus facebook messenger contact. They are paying her 232GBP which really doesn't compensate. They rebooked her original flight which was direct from Doha to Auckland which then included a stop in Perth. The flight from Perth to Auckland service was cancelled in march and she made her booking in May. Thus flight had bot run for 2 months yet they put her on it
JA: Anything else you want the Lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: We have all receipts and correspondence.

If you booked the flights in New Zealand you could bring a claim in the Disputes Tribunal over this mess. They will be getting more cases like this and can look at breach of contract and misleading and deceptive conduct under the Fair Trading Act
Customer
No she booked her flights from the UK as that is where she was living at the time

She may need to make a claim in their equivalent in the UK, although she could try and ask them here, but I suspect the New Zealand Tribunal will not accept a claim

Customer
Ok thank you
