Hello! My name is***** and I am a licensed attorney with more than 18 years of experience. I am here to assist you with your questions. If I do not respond quickly, I promise I will reply as soon as I can. It may take a little time to research and write your answer.

You have been a U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident for a few years? How long? And how long have you been physically present in the U.S. the last few years?

Hello.

Customer
I want to apply for Citizenship. My father from New Zealand but unfortunately I have never met him before. The information my mother gave me before she died was his name and where he worked when he was in Africa.
Customer
Also I was told he was very old before I was born and I presume he might not be no more considering the fact that I was born in 1998

This is a U.S. immigration forum. So you are asking about New Zealand immigration law? If so, I can transfer that question over to our New Zealand law website.

Customer

The right to Citizenship depends on whether your birth was registered in New Zealand as a citizen. You cannot get citizenship by descent unless you were born in New Zealand or your parents registered your birth in New Zealand
