I was hoping a lawyer might have a template for bringing defamation (slander) State? thought this was for New Zealand

Expert's Assistant chat
Customer: Hi I was hoping a lawyer might have a template for bringing defamation (slander)
JA: What state is this in? It matters because laws vary by location.
Customer: State? thought this was for New Zealand law, we don't have states
JA: What steps have you taken so far?
Customer: Sorry think I'll find another service.
JA: Anything else you want the Lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: do your lawyers hold NZ practicing certificates?

Hi Chris, thanks - I was a little thrown when the initial chat agent asked about States. Thank you. *****'ve recently become aware of some terrible slander posted by an ex employee and partner of mine which has been cascaded to a very wide audience through Facebook. This post is continuing to cause difficulties in conducting my business. I am planning on taking formal action. I was curious about what is the process in NZ.I was based in Australia previously and have considerable experience with litigation though not in NZ. I am happy to pay for your time.

Hi Chris, im not quite sure how this service works. Can I engage you to provide a detailed answer?

The best redo se is likely to be a complaint under the Harmful Digital Communications Act, as this sort of social media posting is criminal if it causes harm

You can also complain to Facebook. The complaint under the act is a police matter so you may want to start by inviting her to take it down. You can tell her it is a police matter so if she refuses you will complain
Customer
Thanks Chris. Are you available for a more detailed consultation? I've loaded a position to Upwork (Legal advice for defamation (slander) action in New Zealand ) if use that platform. So far I've likely invested greater than $250K in a new business and this slander has significantly damaged the likelihood it will be able to launch, therefore taking the matter very seriously.

You do still have the option of defamation which can include an application for a takedown of the posts. I could give a full opinion however but that would be off site, and my email is***@******.*** if you want to send more details and I can send a retainer letter
Customer
