Customer: Hi, My name is Haneka(Johanna) and I am resided in New Zealand. I have paid and booked a river cruise with a travel agent Two's a Crowd. The tour is cancelled and apparently my full deposit of $4500 is used a deposit towards a simialr tour next year in Europe. Without my permission.I have forwarded the agent with a letter of complaint as I have requested a refund on multiple occasion per email, but their decision remains unchanged I find this most unfair and not at all in the best interest of the consumer. I am 72 and this means a high risk factor in the corona virus world. I feel I am entitled to a refund as been stipulated in the terms and condition: In case of an unlikely cacellation a refund is your choice or else been used as a deposit.Look forwards to your advise.Kind Regards
JA: What state is this in? And just to clarify, when was the purchase made?
Customer: I am residing in New Zealand and booked and paid on the 15th of January 2020
JA: Have you contacted the seller or manufacturer?
Customer: Yes Various times but ignored my concern
JA: Anything else you want the Lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: Not at the moment thank you

Unfortunately the terms of many of these travel agents say that if you cancel the trip, or they cancel the trip, they do not have to give a refund although they will give this a credit for a trip in the future. I know this will be unfair for you, and there have been steps by Consumer (who are the consumer lobby group) to try to persuade the government to change this. But the best deal you can get out of this unfortunate situation is a credit towards travel in the future
