It is relatively easy to apply for a dissolution of marriage although you may have an issue with getting a copy of the documents brought to his attention. There is a process called substituted service where you don't know where the other party lives. This is usually by an advertisement in the paper circulating where he last lived, although it can be by service on a member of his family who would bring this to his attention. The Ministry of Justice has a useful site for people who want to make this application for divorce themselves and I have attached a link. The documents you will need are a copy of the certificate of the marriage, so if you have that, it should be enough. You can get a copy through the Registrar of Marriages if necessary
