Customer: I got out of West Point in June and the treasurer's office gave me a receipt saying that they owe me $1200. It has been 6 months and I haven't had any communication from West Point and I can't get a hold of them. Would it be possible to compel them to give me the money they owe?
JA: What state are you in? It matters because laws vary by location.
Customer: I live in Colorado now, but west point is in New York
JA: What steps have you taken so far?
Customer: I have tried to call their office to try and figure it out and I have sent Emails with no response
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: I think that is all Customer: Chat is completed

The biggest problem that you are going to have is due to the fact that West Point is a government entity and there is a ton of red tape involved in bringing a lawsuit against them.  It can be done through Federal Tort Claims Act, but the process can be very cumbersome and may take a long time to complete.  If you are interested in looking into this process, a good place to start is here:

And here:

Another alternative would be to contact the West Point Claims Division and seek guidance through their office as to what steps you would need to take next:
