Customer: I am looking for a Louisiana attorney
JA: Have you talked to a LA lawyer about this?
Customer: no
JA: What steps have you taken so far?
Customer: none
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: I am an LPC and have a client who is a Tier 1 sex offender on the registry. The law provides he can get the last 5 years of his required 15 years of registration removed if he has been compliant during his first 10 years of registration compliance. That's what I'm investigating on his behalf. He wants to petition the court to be removed from the registry.

Hello! Thanks for using JustAnswer. My name is ***** ***** I will be the expert ready to answer your questions to the best of my ability and with top-quality service.

Customer
Hi Jim. Do you practice in Louisiana?

James Daloisio, Expert

Usually I don't do phone calls, so try to discuss all your issues here prior to ordering, as another expert will respond to a phone request.

Customer
I'm not interested in a phone call, just want to know if you practice in Louisiana, or are licensed in Louisiana.
Customer
I gave the legal assistant the information. Did she forward it to you?

All he has to do is file a petition and attach his declaration of compliance. It's a straightforward procedure.

Customer
Don't we need an attorney to do the paperwork?
Customer
The law in Louisiana says a motion must be filed and the judge will order the State Police to complete a background check and report back to the court.
Customer
are you familiar with the Louisiana law?

James Daloisio, Expert

I have had clients online with issues from Louisiana and have researched and written opinions. I'd say I have a familiarity with it.

But this is not a complex matter. If he meets the criteria all he has to do is submit his declaration of compliance with his petition.

Customer
can he petition the court himself, or does he need an attorney to do it?

James Daloisio, Expert

My preference would be to have an attorney do it. That way if there's further work that requires a further response an attorney would be competent to handle it.

Customer
Okay, thank you sir. Have a nice evening.
