Expert's Assistant chat
Customer: Greetings, I have some irs tax issues that I would like to get resolved. I am married and wife isn't able to work and I am the sole source of income we do have a bit of a financial burden and can't seem to afford an I.R.S. qualified attorney that can help get this resolved. Could use some help please.
JA: Where is this occurring? I only ask because laws can vary by state.
Customer: I just moved to Kansas but its federal tax not state related
JA: Have you tried anything so far that has helped or clarified the issue?
Customer: I have tried speaking with the IRS directly but no such luck and the the majority of my issue is past statute of limitations bit does require legal counsel
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: In short I had a trucking business and had a $250 tax liability. Wrote the check and my now ex-wife never sent it in back in 2005 or 2006 several years after the divorce the IRS tried several attempts to make me pay and I was blindsided by this they haven't come after me for any civil or criminal action just several attempts to garnish my wages I did try to contact the accountant that did do my business taxes, but never did send me copies to get those filed and try to get this worked.

I'm so sorry! You could send them an offer in compromise without an attorney: https://www.irs.gov/payments/offer-in-compromise

Customer
Ok thank you I will look into that option and see how to do that
