Customer: On February 8th 2022 I was hit by a car walking across the street (100% his fault) I had a lawyer settle the insurance part of this case. Well the insurance sucks and I got really screwed. I was hit by a car now I'm out of work no money coming in and now over 40 thousand dollars in bills to pay or my credit goes to crap. Is there any kind of help for a victim like me or do we just get screwed and the person that hit me nothing happens to him and I the victim has to pay the bills. This is so wrong
JA: I just need to ask a few clarifying questions so that the Lawyer doesn't miss anything. To start, what state are you in? It matters because laws vary by location.
Customer: North Carolina
JA: What steps have been taken so far?
Customer: Other then the insurance settlement nothing
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: I don't think so

Yes, you would file a personal injury suit against the driver.

Customer
Even if he has nothing

DanLegal, Expert

Yes, and get a judgment.

Customer
My lawyer in the insurance case said I couldn't go after him because he had nothing. I guess he's poor

DanLegal, Expert

That would not matter, you can always get a judgement and place a garnishment.

Customer
Ok so what's my next step

DanLegal, Expert

You would file a civil suit against him.

You would file it through the clerk of the court's website.
