Good afternoon welcome to the website. My name is ***** ***** I will be the expert assisting you today. I will assume that this is a hypothetical situation. When it comes to a job interview with someone that has a past, if the company is more than 15 employees, The employer is precluded from asking you about any kind of criminal past at the initial interview. They cannot ask you nor can they run your background until after the initial interview unless the position you are applying for has a law requiring a criminal search.

if I am offered the role and then do the paperwork and I see they run a background check what's your advice keep in mind this was 13 years ago

Michael Bradley, Expert

They will tell you if part of their hiring process includes a criminal background check. If it does, then I would disclose to them what your requirements are. I understand that 13 years is a long time and you should not have to continue to pay for your crimes. I would rather be upfront with them as opposed to them finding out. That is only if they ask you or they tell you they are going to run a background check, otherwise, you do not have to disclose anything.
