Customer: Second opinion] I owned an RV park that was under an LLC. I transferred the LLC to my son, and he is the sole managing member. We had an atty handle the paperwork, and then we got everything notarized. After the transfer a dog bit a customer. The customer is suing my son, the LLC, and me. Do I need to hire an atty to respond to the service papers, or can I simply respond myself and say that I did not own the LLC at the time of the dog bite, and I had no association with the business at the time of the dog bite?

Hello! Thanks for using JustAnswer. My name is ***** ***** I am an attorney ready to answer your questions with top-quality service.

I am sorry to hear about the ongoing law situation. I know that these situations can be both stressful and time-consuming, and we’ll do our best to provide the information needed to address them

I am reviewing your question and I may have some follow-up questions for you. Once I get the information I need, it may take me a few minutes to prepare a response. I thank you in advance for your patience.

So you are being sued personally?  Does the complaint say why you are being sued personally?  Is it simply because you were the owner of the LLC?

Customer
simply because my name was associated with the llc.

Then what you need to do is file a motion to dismiss to get yourself removed from the case.

If you want, for a fee of $200, I could help you with the filings in your case until you are removed.  Because of the amount of work involved, this would need to be done away from the website as it creates an attorney-client relationship.  Please let me know if you want to go forward with that service
