Hello
How did the accident occur? Were you at fault and now simply disputing the quantum (fancy legal word meaning amount owed) to repair the damage?
If so, then no, you not being part of the repair process does not stop you from being liable.
All you can do is negotiate a settlement. Either,
1. Obtain a counter estimate of repairs from another tradesman
or
2. offer partial sum of what your friends is claiming.
Is the garage not under strata? Why is your friend not seeking an insurance claim through the strata insurer and you can simply pay the insurance fee?
I wish to help you in this situation.

Ok, so liability is there.
Secondly, repairs made, strata wont act now.
She is at liberty to sue you sadly.
I would offer her say 75% of the claim. She will not be able to get anything higher in Court.
How much is she asking for?

How much is the entire amount i mean; $ wise?
