Case Description My 17 year old God-daughter from Toledo Ohio moved there into Old Towne apartments to start college

Expert's Assistant chat
Customer: Hello. Case Description
My 17 year old God-daughter from Toledo Ohio moved there into Old Towne apartments to start college 8/29/2022 and her two roommates just moved in and one of them was responsible for turning in the utilities but both can't because they are not US citizens. Her mom is on the lease until August of 2023. What can be done? Her mom is the guarantor and cannot afford to be on the lease and also pay for their utilities which were to be split 3 ways. I can have her contact you.
JA: Is there anything in the lease that is not being honored?
Customer: Yes. The first roommate moved out. The electric is still in apartment name.
JA: What are the terms of the lease? Any issues related to maintenance or upkeep?
Customer: There are many. Ms. Wilson, can I have her mom contact you? I reached out to NOLO there but they couldn't help.
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: Just that her mom, Shannon is tooooo stressed out to deal with the apartment managers not returning any calls or emails.

She said she needs to know what to do before July 11th of next year when the lease is renewed. She doesn't want to renew the lease in her name

Daughter turns 18 on July 11th

Does the lease have a provision regarding automatic renewal, or the requirement of notice of non renewal?

Customer
She's 18 July 11th and the current lease ends July 31st. Do I need to make her leave before she turns 18 in order to make sure she doesn't renew it, can I let the apartment know I do not want to be a guarantor on any renewals, and or would I have to sign for it to be renewed with me as a guarantor.
Customer
That is what she sent me that I copied to you

Attorney Bruce, Expert
