List of Repairs for Apartment 1007Closet doors in the entranceway need to be tracked and rehung.
Black mold is growing in the vents in the downstairs living room. (see number 3)
Previous repair of my ceiling needs to be completed. It was drywalled and plastered but never finished. The original damage occurred 2 years ago when there was a massive leak in our upstairs bathroom that leaked into our living room.
The closet doors in the smallest bedroom will not stay hung. One door fell onto my sons TV breaking it. They need to be hung and possibly needs new track.
One half of the mirror in both upstairs bathrooms need to be replaced.
Blinds in all the bedrooms need to be replaced.
The cabinet doors in both bathrooms don’t stay closed. They need new magnets or catchers.
We need replacement vertical blinds for our sliding glass door.
Needs a new toilet seat in upstairs bathroom. The one installed is the wrong size for the toilet.
The towel rack needs to be rehung in downstairs powder room.
The toilet seat in the downstairs powder room needs screws to secure the seat to the base.
Master bedroom bathroom shower has a drip that is getting worse.
I need a replacement fire extinguisher because I had to use it when we had a small kitchen fire this past year.
The plumbing for our upstairs bathroom is completely messed up. Only one toilet on the second floor works at any given time. One is always clogged. It’s clearly an issue with the plumbing itself.
Dishwasher needs to be replaced. We stopped using it a year ago because it’s old and calcified.
Our corner cabinet in the kitchen actually fell off two weeks ago and I had a carpenter rehang it but someone should probably look at it.
The spikey grips from the carpet entering the kitchen are exposed and my kids inadvertently step on them.
Door knob on master bathroom bedroom needs to be replaced.
Light in the master bedroom bathroom does not turn on. the light functions, but the switch is old and faulty.

I have been living in an apartment for 2.5 years and the tenant has not made a single repair regardless of numerous requests.

.

Do you mean the landlord hasn't made repairs?

Customer
my apologies. The property management company has acknowledged the repairs needs in November and never followed through. I reached out again in May and again today.

Ok. with that many things, your fastest option is to call the local Code Enforcement or Housing Inspector's office and request an inspection. They can come out and inspect and then force the landlord to make repairs or face fines and other penalties for refusing. That also gives you a report as insurance against the landlord illegally retaliating against you..

That is a great suggestion. Thank you.

I wanted to have someone inspect to see if we do have black mold in our ceiling and vents. If they determine that it is in fact black mold and harmful to myself and my children, can I sue the management company for negligence?

You could sue them if you have suffered damages, like health issues... But you have to have provable damages in order to recover in court..
