Hi my name is ***** ***** I'm the attorney who will be assisting you. In order to protect this music you should send it in for US copyright before you totally get the YouTube channel set up so that it is already copywritten or in the process of getting the copyright so with anybody starts trying to steal the music you can put in a copyright claim and YouTube usually honest those claims and we'll take it down.

Hi
Customer
Good evening Jean! Thank you so much!
The next question I have is can a musician who is not on YouTube make a copyright claim when his music is being monetized on YouTube without his share of the proceeds?
The producer (Simon)of my said brother (Godwill) has "stolen" all the music and is monetizing each one of them (big & small) on YouTube!
Godwill is devastated and does not know what to do!
1) Should he seek legal arbitration between him and this producer to reach a settlement/agreement ( as they are now on bad terms) for him to receive some of the YouTube proceeds as the owner of the song?
2) Is it possible for my brother to report this producer to YouTube even though he has no presence there?
3) Is it possible to copyright my brother's songs in the USA and monetize on YouTube even these songs are already being monetized by the producer there?
Please let me!
Thank you!

If you can prove that it's your music you can definitely make a copyright claim whether or not you are also on YouTube. The same is true if they are using it anywhere without the permission of the person who owns the original copy right.

Wherever it is that you're trying to file the claim that's where you should get a lawyer who understands copy is one distance copyright and trademark and entertainment law. If you contact you contact your state bar association they can refer you to a few lawyers that practice and to tame at law. They are especially prevalent in California since that is the center of entertainment but theyou're event entertainment but they are also in the Southern States and New York.

Customer
Thank you!
In this case the music was produced in Cameroon ! Is that where we get the entertainment lawyers who understand copyright?
Or is it going to be more effective if we get the entertainment lawyer from the US since the claim is from YouTube activities and Facebook?

If it's mostly US that is infringing in fringing on your rights then you're better off making the claim in the US and US is one of the societies that has the most lawsuits that are winnibals so you're better off suing anybody in the US unless you have good reason to so elsewhere

Customer
Thank you!
Could you possibly do it?

No unfortunately we cannot take cases directly from the website. However aside from the state bar associations there are also websites that profile lawyers by city state and type of practice. Again you would look for a copyright lawyer or an entertainment lawyer. My favorite websites are martindale.com and Avvo.com.
