How can I find the current address of my ex wife so that can have my support payments and outstanding support balance

Expert's Assistant chat
Customer: How can I find the current address of my ex wife so that can have my support payments and outstanding support balance reviewed by the family court ?
JA: When was the last payment made? How much is owed?
Customer: The payments come out monthly via garnishment through the FRO. Since day one my income did not cover the entire levied payment and my current outstanding balance is about $160,000
JA: Has a court order been entered for any unpaid child support?
Customer: I was just made aware of a writ issued on Sep 21, 2010 for $2642.86, which involves a lien against my house The sale of my house is set to close on Nov 8,2021.
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: As I stated, I have been unable to pay the entire support payment due to my income, and the balance has accrued accordingly. My ex has moved and I do not have her current address to have her served with court papers to review this balance and ongoing support payments.

I am very sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the support you are paying. I can understand that you would need this information and it is your ex wife's responsibility to keep the court up to date on what her current address is. You can contact the clerk of court first to see whether she has updated her address. If not then you can hire an investigator to locate her new address so that she can be properly served.

Customer
I engaged a lawyer some time ago to do just that and had no success.

Are you looking to try and modify your support amount?

Customer
I would like to modify the payment, have the balance reviewed and remove the lien on my house.

I understand. You can file the petition with the court and if you are unable to locate her then you can try and do a notice by publication which requires you to run the notice in the local paper in her last know location. After a certain amount of time you can ask the court to grant a default judgment if she does not respond.

Customer
Can any lawyer help me with this petition? She turned 65 two years ago and should have filed a notice with the court regarding change of income.
