As it is an employment at will, employer has discretion in terminating.  You can file for benefits and also try to negotiate severance based on tenure and their policies.

I am very sorry you had to go through this.  I appreciate how hard this must be.

Customer
I'm completely lost right now. Who I go to about the Severance pay because the Department of Labor are not helping

That is something you negotiate with HR directly or through a lawyer.   Site rules do not permit us to take on cases. Here, I wish I could. I can offer resources for hiring counsel locally, often on commission or pro bono basis. I would be happy to share that information with you. Please let me know if that would help.

Customer
Okay if you don't mind I would like to have that information

Happy to provide it.  I would focus on avvo.com or justia.com to find a solo employment lawyer to engage in such negotiation for you with HR.

Customer
Thank you again
