Customer: Hello, I am Jacob ***, and in dire in of representation.
JA: Where is this occurring? I only ask because laws can vary by state.
Customer: Missoula Montana However, the ACLU director is a gatekeeper of our law school, whom have discriminated against me to grave extent and refuse to hand over my diploma
JA: What steps have you taken so far?

JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: Yes. I am an African refugee adopted at ten years old and a veteran.

Simmons Esq., Expert

Hello! I'm attorney Simmons. I've been practicing law for over 11 years in multiple states. I need a moment to review your question and do some legal research for an answer and I'll be right back. Just so you know, JustAnswer provides general information website. We do not provide an attorney client relationship nor do we provide any sort of legal representation. If you're looking to retain an attorney, the best bet to retain an attorney is on a website called www.avvo.com. You'll find local representation, most of which will give a free consultation. If you need a free attorney for your criminal defense case, a public defender will be appointed at your first court date. if I give you negative news about the law, please understand, I didn't make the laws, I'm simply telling you what the law is. I sincerely ***** ***** the law is not in your favor. Despite what people think, the law isn't always "fair" I'm so sorry you're having these legal trouble's but I'm here to help

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this.  Why won't they give you your diploma?

Customer
Hello Simmons. The University won't hand me my diploma because they claim I never submitted my AWR. However, I emailed it to the professor and defended it.
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

Ok, so show proof that you sent the email.
Customer
First, I am a former child refugee from Africa and was adopted by a family in Helena, Montana, at age ten. I served four years in thr Marines before law school.
I did show proof of my submission.
However, the story started after my 1L year when I ran for mayor against the the16-year incumbent. I ran as an Independent and differed in my views from the city and school's liberal views. Our campaign went toe-to-toe with the Mayor and lost by a couple of thousand votes in the general election, the closest any candidate had ever challenged the mayor. It sent a shocking wave through the community and exposed some unethical dealings of the city and its relationship with the University.
During the election, a law professor prompted a student to accuse me of sexual assault. The school hired a private firm and leaked the information to the local media. The investigators cleared me of the allegation. However, it upset the school significantly. 98% of the law school faculty donated to the mayor's campaign.
At the tail end of the campaign, the University accused me of plagiarism claims at every turn in the road. We beat all the accusations, and they had nothing to kick me out of the school. They only alerted me about my AWR ordeal three days before graduation.

Well, if you've already proved it, you'll have to file a lawsuit.

Discrimination isn't going to work in this case.. and you should know that .. conlaw 101.

Customer
I am aiming at a civil rights violation claim.
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

what civil rights have they violated?

Customer
I don't have the means to sue the University. Do you have any resources or contacts to point me in the right direction?
Customer
Good question. Hence I am reaching out to the experts.
Customer
I think my case falls within the realm of a 1983 claim.
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

I'm confused, I thought you said you graduated law school.

Customer
I did. However, the school is hanging on to my diploma.
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

You took con law correct?

Customer
I did.
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

So do you fall into a protected class ?

Customer
I am a minority.
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

and a 1983 violation is when the GOVERMENT discriminates... this is a law school..  likely private, right?

img

Simmons Esq., Expert

Oik, so you're saying that the law school is holding on to your degree because of your race?

Customer
No, it's a part of our public University. The University of Montana.
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

So you're argument is .. that your law school is holding on to your diploma because of your race?

Customer
I do not know why. However, my civil rights were violated because the school was targeting me for my political beliefs. Potentially race, but I don't know; although I am one of two black students in the school at the time.
Customer
at the school*
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

So you're political beliefs are a protected class?

Customer
It's difficult to explain the intricacies of my case on text. Do you take calls?
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

Yes, I do calls.

Customer
I don't know. Hence why I am reaching out to the expert.
Customer
Can you give me a call?
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

Political beliefs aren't a protected class, sir.  It's frightening that you didn't learn that in Conlaw.

img

Simmons Esq., Expert

If you want your diploma, you'll have to file a lawsuit.. and you need to look at your law school contract.. it might have a biding arbitration clause.

Customer
I don't claim political beliefs to be a protected class. I don't know which direction to go with the general facts I presented to you.
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

There isnt.  You're not a protected class and even if it was a protected class, you'd have to show a nexus between the discrimination and the universities act of not giving you a diploma.

Customer
Is this the extent of your help?
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

This would be a standard law suit.

Customer
Okay. Do you have contacts to direct me to? I am also tied-up financially.
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

Go to upwork.com and hire a freelance attorney or paralegal to ghost write your documents.

Customer
I am capable of researching and writing. I don't want to represent myself, and I don't have the financial means.
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

You know how much law school costs.. Pro bono attorneys, outside criminal law, are a myth.

Customer
Got it. Well, thanks for your help.
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

I'm sorry you're dealing with this, but unless you have a friend who just graduated willing to rep you, you're going to have to do it yourself.

Customer
Are we done here then?
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

What other questions do you have?

Customer
I don't find this interaction helpful, sir.
Customer
It would help if I can call you and explain in better detail. Not a one or two-sentence response to a complex issue.
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

Sir, you asked me if you have a suit for discrimination for political affiliation was a viable cause of action and you asked me how to find an attorney who will represent you in a civil lawsuit for free.

img

Simmons Esq., Expert

I said i'd accept the call and gave you the offer.

Customer
I envision a better interaction than texting.
Customer
envisioned
Customer
Call this number?
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

You have to accept the offer.  Phone calls are a premium service.

Customer

Customer
What's the offer again?
img

Simmons Esq., Expert

I'll get you to customer service to help you with the phone call offer... it should e scolled up.

Customer
