Customer: Hello I am a student at FIU I have transferred out and taking classes at another university. But I am being charged with plagiarism (first time) in the system it says I am still a student. I know they can still write it down on their internal system but if I withdraw officially will they still be able to make changes to my transcripts in any way as the only 2 charges that can do that is suspension or expulsion and since I am not a student there anymore are they still allowed to do that?
JA: Because education law varies from place to place, can you tell me what state this is in?
Customer: Florida
JA: Have you spoken to a local attorney or school administrator? What is your ideal outcome for this situation?
Customer: Not get any marks on my transcript. The only two outcomes that can happen are suspension or expulsion
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: No that will be all

Hello there. My name Is ***** ***** I am an attorney licensed in three states. My firm is based in Chicago. I am happy to help you out here and I understand that legal issues can be quite frustrating. In communicating with me we are not creating an attorney client relationship. However I am happy to point you in the right direction and I’m happy to answer questions you have. Thanks!

Is this the same plagiarism case I have already helped you with today?  Or did you still need guidance on this?

Customer
Yeah I wanted to know if the university can suspend you or expel you in any way if you have already withdrawn from the university and are no longer a student there. Are they allowed to make changes to your transcripts if you have left and are no longer a student there?

No that's impossible.  They may be able to not release your transcripts.  But that is about it.

Customer
Thank you very much for the fast reply. Just to make sure this is even if you are being accused of plagarism. So long as you have withdrawn they can not make any changes to your transcript whatsoever?

I don't know.  There is no "law" stopping them if that is what you are asking.  They'd be bound by the policies of grades set by the school.
