I'm going to a cosmetology school. The "administration" is possibly embezzling and definitely making racist comments about students in their absence. We are threatened daily with being kicked out for all sorts of minor things. However, we have one teacher for our theory class and she is functionally illiterate. Multiple students have been taking videos of the hours and hours. We sit with nothing to do. There are accounts of students that have never received the financial aid money. They were promised refunds of. I'm trying to compile as much evidence as possible but I'm not sure what is most important. I tried to go to another school because it's obvious that there is no education here. Just bodies in a building for 1,500 hours as required by the state of Illinois for amount of hours for taking the cosmetology board test. We are told that if we want to transfer or drop out we have to pay the entire program off before they were release any of our hours or information to any other school. They are willing to put us in collections and take us to court but will not provide us with an education. We have an administrative staff of a financial aid person and no other staff to speak with. This is the second campus. The first campus has been there for 30 years and to my knowledge has actual teachers but unfortunately I'm spending so much time and money and wasting both of these things.
JA: Because education law varies from place to place, can you tell me what state this is in?
Customer: Illinois
JA: Have you spoken to a local attorney or school administrator? What is your ideal outcome for this situation?
Customer: I have not spoken to anyone locally because I'm not sure who to speak with. I have absolutely nobody in the administration to listen to me considering the one person we have to talk to is the person in question. We are not provided with a counselor or his supervisors information.
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: Nope. I just want to know if I want to go Forward with this. What is the best thing to document? What are the parameters the school should have to legally abide by and I'm fighting for an entire school of people. After gas lighting us and threatening us. Once we graduate there is no acknowledgment and that makes me so sad. I'm touring different schools starting Tuesday so I can pick up on what the industry standards look like locally. Obviously no one in the administration of the schools wants to talk to me about the laws because they don't want to implicate themselves in a lawsuit

Seeking representation and legal assistance for medical school that dismissed me as a disabled student in the process of seeking disability accommodations for my medical board exams. This school had also falsified records about my enrollment to the department of education. The school is the American University of the Caribbean and their administrative office is in Pembroke Pines, Florida. They instructed me not to take my exam without accommodations and then turned around and dismissed me from the program when I could not acquire accommodations and take the exam by their deadline. This follows a laundry list of micro aggressions that I faced from the administration throughout my tenure.
JA: What kind of workplace is this (private sector, public sector, etc.)? How many employees?
Customer: It’s not a workplace it is a graduate school
JA: Have you requested a reasonable accommodation? What happened?
Customer: I’m not sure how to answer this in short. Basically, the school took 6 months to supply documentation requested by the medical boards. When my accomodations were denied and I needed to appeal, a process that takes more than 3 months, and my school knew that, they only gave me 3 months to appeal or the ultimatum to take my licensing exam without accommodations, or else they would dismiss me. And they dismissed me. As I have not been able to pass school exams without disability accommodations
JA: Have you talked to a FL lawyer about the disability?
Customer: I’ve not found one. I’ve tried but most that seem to specialize in this area seem to be in the New York area
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: not that I can think of

I am at risk of failing out of my program due to unfair/questionable circumstances. I received a 0% and a failing final grade on my most recently completed clinical rotation due to checking one of my answers when I was on my 10-minute break (outside of the exam room) in between 2 sections of the final exam. The handbooks do not specify what we are or aren't allowed to do during our breaks, they just say that we aren't allowed to use materials other than the scrap paper given to us "during the exam". I did not cheat nor did I do anything to improve my grade on the second section of the exam with my action. I did not get a warning nor was I approached by the staff member who saw me as I was finishing my snack and putting my pocketbook away. After reviewing the handbooks, I still don't believe I violated any policies. I followed instructions: I put my phone in the coordinator's office, my backback was outside of the exam classroom, and I did not use any materials other than the scrap paper while taking my exam. I have had issues of scrutiny in the past with these staff members including being put on professionalism probation for tardies (other students were late more often than I was with no consequences), they tried to kick me out of the program for false accusations and I went through a 2-month long official process that ruled in my favor to continue in the program, and I have not received any academic advisement since before the aforementioned process. In my program, students are supposed to have academic advisement twice per semester. I continue to be scrutinized and treated unfairly. I just want to graduate in January with the rest of my class instead of being kicked out 20 months into my program and over $100k in student loan debt.
JA: Because education law varies from place to place, can you tell me what state this is in?
Customer: I'm in Kentucky
JA: Have you spoken to a local attorney or school administrator? What is your ideal outcome for this situation?
Customer: I have spoken to administration in the past when the staff of my program tried to kick me out of my program for false accusations. I have a meeting with admin and program staff tomorrow. Not sure what will be discussed. I want to graduate
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: When I am no longer attending the school, I want to sue them for unfair treatment, making false accusations against me, adversity of being a single mother, exclusion from academic advising, etc.
