Expert's Assistant chat
Customer: My ex girlfriend has a restraining order on me but she’s stalking me
JA: Was a restraining order issued? What were the basic terms?
Customer: also I need a no contact of any kind and so I went and filed a restraining order of my own. But I don’t necessarily want or shrink or order on her, I want hers dismissed
JA: Were the police called? What happened?
Customer: Nothing she wanted a restraining order the judge denied it it was a hearing on merits and I went to the wrong color room and the judge granted it because I wasn’t there
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: No that’s it

Hello there. My name is ***** ***** I am an attorney licensed in 3 states. My firm is based in Chicago. I am happy to help you out here. In communicating with me, you are not creating an attorney-client relationship. Sometimes I have to answer client emails or step out to a meeting, so bear with me, but I generally get back to follow ups very quickly. Thanks!

OK so me and my girlfriend were living together we had a puppy the whole nine I broke up with her because I felt like the relationship was stagnant long story short she put a restraining order on me because I was very simply and couldn't get over the break up and I was emailing her a lot fine fair enough but she was stocking me cyber stocking me and she still is now at their training or hearing the judge denied her restraining order and then I had a hearing on merit I didn't show up for the hearing because I went to the wrong court room and the judge granted it so then I went and father sharing order for my own restraining order against her that was also denied and now there's a hearing on Merritt what the hell can I do or say or file in the state of Rhode Island to turn my restraining order hearing and to just a dismissal all the way around

If you want to dismiss your petition you simply need to file a motion to dismiss OR show up to the hearing and preliminary just orally request dismissal.  If you are attempting to get this restraining order against you removed, talk to the ex and try to get her to file a joint dismissal with your signature.  If she refuses, then you will need to file a motion to dismiss and you will need to attend a hearing to support why you are not a threat to her.
