JC here’s what happened. I sent a pdf to this bmo rep Nafisa c
Which clearly listed the key details such as beneficiary name, it’s bank and account no. She then sent the wire on last Thursday. She didn’t send me the wire slip before sending the money. When I kept checking with the beneficiary and wondering why the funds are not there I asked her to send me the wire slip which she sent on Friday. I promptly sent it to the beneficiary for investigation. They responded in the evening today that the account no is wrong. When I looked closely I realized that she jumbled the last 4 digits of the account. So the name and the bank are correct but the account is wrong

I see, how long has it been since the funds were transferred? I would not worry too much about this, the bank would normally be refunding the money to you if it is their mistake.

I made the wire request last Thursday and raised the flag today after I learnt of what happened. I immediately called BMO’s 247 support and also emailed the rep and her manager

No response yet because it is off hours. They open at 9:30 in the morning. The online support person said she has sent instructions to the branch but it is the branch that has to take the next steps

I understand that you are anxious, but the legal steps are much slower. This needs to be resolved at the branch level with a formal response, and if that is unsatisfactory, then you can elevate it to the office of the president, then the ombudsman.

However the office of the president will not even comment on the matter unless there is a written response at the branch level.
