Do you mean you have the bill of sale but you never got the trailer?

No this was tonight, they were given the deposit to bring it here and to be paid in full then. They tried to push for more and delay bringing it. When i refused they stopped answering and haven't heard back. However during this i was given the entire fully signed bill of sale. As in walk in to sgi put it in my name legal bill of sale. To protect my so far investment i am pondering registering it and then filing a possible fraud report and a missing trailer.

I just do not want to dig myself a hole either, i have no criminal past and no issue with police but the local station deals with me from work often and they would gladly burry me for a mistake if they can as there have been run ins resulting in suspension in the department.

How did you pay the deposit?

Etransfer, memo written as a receipt along the lines of roughly "deposit for a _____ of x amount etc" then they responded with a full bill of sale later on before trying to prompt me for more.

To be clear the full price was never paid as they didnt deliver, however took off with the deposit. Promoting to temporarily register it to cover myself from it being sold until my deposit is returned or trailer delivered in which case i would gladly pay the remainder

All resulting in the "what if" scenario of plating it, putting a note on it to protect myself in some way. Then also reporting with the police and hopefully theyll strong arm the deliver or refund it. Especially if they get told i registered it with the bill of sale. I wouldnt screw anybody back but prove i never paid for example. I have the bill of sale.

It would make sense to register the trailer in your name so it cannot be sold again.

Then it would make sense to tell the police what has happened. It doesn't make sense to tell them it was stolen. You have to tell them the exact truth.

If you don't get the trailer by tomorrow you should also call the bank, explain what has happened and it turns out you are the victim of a fraud and ask if they can draw the money back into your account. They sometimes can.

That helps a lot thanks. i didn't intend on saying anything but the truth i just didn't know what other reports were called. I would've told the story and let them give me the file for it.

I even have the guys home address, phone number and as mentioned bill of sale so somebidy finding something shouldnt be that hard

Well upon being sent all this notification they've decided to finally respond. Their so far summarized stance is biding time.
