Hello and Welcome to JustAnswer. My name is***** will be working on your question today and I am looking forward to our conversation.

Customer
Hello Debra,Im currently a student in canada and i recently applied for temporary resident visa under the valid study permit.
Issue starts as my temporary resident visa is approved as visitor and i currently have a family emergency to attend by september 15th.As my status is set to visitor on my temporary resident visa and having a legal document as study permit, i have these following questions1.How can i face CBSA officer when i return after the family emergency? if they just ask why do i have visitor visa on valid study permit - what do i answer? if i dont answer to that question properly will i get deported?
2.I have seen on IRCC webpage that if a temporary resident's visa changes from student to visitor do i loose the chance to apply for work permit or extend study permit in the near future?(my study permit is still valid but will it create problems while i apply at PGWP?)

Please note that I am working from my computer and not actually texting. If you don’t answer back for a while I may not be online when you do but I will never desert you and will check back often. As well, as I am working from home it is possible that I will be interrupted but I will always return back as soon as I can.

I know your question is important to you and I will be giving it the time and attention it deserves.

I am sorry to hear of this difficult situation.

If you are still attending school you need a study permit to go to school and work off campus. The study permit does not allow you to travel back into Canada. You need a temporary resident visa on top of the study permit to be able to come back to Canada.

You can call Canada immigration first thing Tuesday morning or send in a web form if you are not sure about your documentation. Here is a link to the web form:

Does that help as a starting point?
