It is OK to have a visitor's visa and a study permit. The visa is needed so you can re-enter Canada. You need both.

Your status did not change to visitor. You need a visitor's visa to be able to in the enter. You have your study permit so you are a valid student and do not have to worry. The visitor's visa is a temporary resident visa.

Then you need to contact CIC using the webform.
