Customer: I have a complicated problem which involves the metro police.
JA: What province are you in? It matters because laws vary by location.
Customer: Ontario
JA: What steps have you taken so far?
Customer: I have called the police property department, the crown attorney department, superior court, financial crimes unit and I’m getting the runaround
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: I was charged with about 200 counts of breaking and entering in a non dwelling on august 4 2019. I did not do those things. I spent about 15 months in custody. On March 26 2021 all charges were withdrawn by the crown attorney. They are still holding mine and my family’s property that they ceased in 2019

Hi there, did you see my follow-up question?

Customer
It was being held as evidence. But after they investigate nothing was reported stolen, I bought it all
Customer
Sorry I'm a slow texter

ToLawyer, Expert

That is ok. If they are being held as evidence, and your charges have been dropped, you need to contact the crown/police. They are the only one that can release it back to you.

As it is not a legal procedure that they are holding your items, the only other thing you can do is complaint to the ombudsman after you have exhausted your steps, and see if they can step in to assist you.

Customer
I was told in may 2021 that ministry of the attorney general has a 75 day hold pending an investigation. I waited till 80 days and told something else.
Customer
I filed a lawsuit against the police for negligent investigation.
Customer
I guess that the ombudsman is my next resort!

Correct, try the Ombudsman and see if they can assist you! Best of luck!
