Expert's Assistant chat
Customer: Enforced 3 day a week inspection, whether or not I am here
JA: What province are you in? It matters because laws vary by location.
Customer: British Columbia
JA: What steps have you taken so far?
Customer: Tried talking to landlord about it, have been living here for months, told they would come in anyways even if I do not let them in. Not apart of orginal paperwork, never got a copy of paper work told they would give me a photocopy later. Just received now after months, and pages were added that I had not seen before
JA: Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: Contradicting wording on paperwork as well, sudden change im conditions that I had tried to discuss and figure out. Told I was being argumentative, and had my landlord threaten to call rcmp on me at my own place of living

Hello and Welcome to JustAnswer. My name is***** will be working on your question today and I am looking forward to our conversation.

Customer
Hello, I need to get clarification on my rights
Customer
I am currently living in supportive housing, paying $637 a month with a pet. Have been here since April, have no in home inspections, and raised a issue over hornets, and now suddenly changes to the conditions around my pet, inspections and did not receive an original copy of documents I sign. Asked for a copy, waited in office and watched them get photocopied, but they refused to give them to me saying the need to organize and go over them. That they would be dropped off later, and there are pages that are added.

Please note that I am working from my computer and not actually texting. If you don’t answer back for a while I may not be online when you do but I will never desert you and will check back often. As well, as I am working from home it is possible that I will be interrupted but I will always return back as soon as I can.

Finally, although the site offers a call option I personally do not take calls but just work online. Some find this confusing as it looks like the offer is coming from me but that is just how the site presents the offer and it really isn’t coming from me. Some of the other experts do take calls and so you are very welcome to request a call on this post and an expert may take it. They will have the benefit of reading our exchange which should work out very well for everyone involved!

I know your question is important to you and I will be giving it the time and attention it deserves.

I am sorry to hear of this difficult situation.

I have read this post so many times and I cannot figure out what's going on. Are you telling me that your landlord believe they can come in to inspect your home three times a week?

Customer
the first inspection is at Monday 9:30 am. They are entering whether or not I open the door. Say because I have a pet.
Customer
Have lived here since april, never had an inspection. Got a letter saying they are going to enforce 3 times a week, whether or not I am there. I have a dog, my doctor has supported her as a service animal and compassionate care animal.
Customer
They told me originally I could have her in the backyard, cleaning up after her before going inside, I have been doing so for months. Now I am being accused and the landlord is claiming I haven’t cleaned after her or have a sealed lockable bin (have had since end of may). The dog run provided I have tried to discuss with them, as it is gravel/rock filled and not grass, and has been dangerous heat wise for her. There are security cameras all around the outside of the house, which even document that I have been following conditions. However still accused with no evidence that I am not taking care of her.
Customer
The landlord doesnt allow access to the main disposal bin and it is locked in the unaccessible garage, have to ask for them to show up and unlock it

Your landlord can enter to inspect the premises with a bona fide reason if they give you 24 hours written notice. It is not up to you whether they can enter not if they provide the bona fide notice.

But if they think they come in three times a week that is illegal and significant harassment and you can bring an application to the residential tenancy branch for an order that they cease and desist from harassing you, that they provide you a peaceful enjoyment of your home and you can even seek to have them fined and for you to get a rent abatement.

I suggest you call first thing Monday morning to discuss. Here is a link to their contact information:

Does that help as a starting point?

Thank you!

What is a bona fide reason?

Well once in a while to check to make sure now everything is working and there are no damage would be bona fide. Three times a week is so shockingly nonsensical that it's
