Hello – My name is ***** ***** I’m happy to assist you today. I am a Canadian lawyer who is able to answer immigration law questions.

Can you tell me more about how many years of work experience you and your husband have and in what occupation as well as your knowledge of English and French ?

Dear Joanne... Thank you for your answer, first of all. İ am an economist but never liked it, after ending up studying that due to very strict and non flexible university entrance system in Turkey. Always having wanted to help people heal, and due to the difficulty of changing my career lane to psychology with an Economics undergrad degree, İ lately came very close to other holistic wellness solutions. İ m hoping to become a "mature student", which again is not very likely in Turkey. İ have had a year as an AFS Exchange Program Student in Cleveland Ohio back in 1989-1990 school year and hold a high school diploma although my secondary and high school education in Turkey was %75 in English, other than Social Sciences and Turkish lessons. Plus my university diploma is from the most reputable technical university in Turkey, again with a teaching languange of English.
My husband is an Electrical Engineer by his Bachelor of Science but always worked in Multinational Companies' Product Manament Teams. 2010 to 2020 we lived in China as an expat family as he worked for a Danish-American Cleaning Equipment Company, Nilfisk Advance as a Global Product Director.
Our son moved to China when he was 2.5 years old and our daughter is born abroad. They never lived in Turkey until 2019 summer tgat me & the kids had to move back due to changing conditions in China. However, both kids speak in English at home and tgey are having a very hard time adjusting to a totally different school system, after all their education life in İnternational schools with American and British Curriculum. Especially our son who is in 8th grade is very much challenged and after being such a bright student in China, even the slight decrease in his performance is upsetting him besides the puberty journey (13 yrs old now). And we have been forcing these kids whose native language is obviously English, to study in Turkey which is too much of a challenge.
So İ have thought, since my son holds a Canada passport and my daughter a USA passport, if İ can get a mature student status, we could live in Canada and the kids will excell as tgey deserve and so will İ. My husband should find it easy to find a Product Management position with all his career in İnternational companies like Pirelli tyres and Nilfisk-Advance Cleaning Equipments.
Unfortunately we do not speak French though we all speak different levels of Chinese!
Hope this message sheds more light on our story
Oh, missed part pf the question: İ have worked in Deliotte & Touche Audit company for starters, tgen worked in one of the two major Mobile Operator Companies in Turkey which later became Vodafone Turkey and lastly, worked in a Private University with education in English,as a Project Manager of Research Funds. That was 14 years of experience. My husband has been working for 24 years in multinational companies, always in Product management, though he is an Electrical Engineer, as İ mentioned above...

Thank you for this attaching your CV's which is very helpful.

After reviewing this information, I would suggest that your husband apply under the Federal Skilled Work program because he has more experience in his occupation that is classified under Canada's National Occupational Classification ( NOC) as Skill Level A, B or O occupations which are managerial and professional jobs.

The FSWP works on a point system whereby you have to get 67 points out of 100 to qualify to create a profile and calculate a comprehensive ranking system score under the Express Entry which is basically a database that manages potential applicants for permanent residence. This database is used by Canada Immigration when deciding who to issue Invitations to Apply for permanent residence to.

The FSWP point system awards points for age, education, language skills, work experience and occupation. Here is the link to Canada Immigration's webpage on the FSWP and how the point system works.

Your husband will score highly for language skills, education and job experience but will not get any points for age because he is over 47. He may not get any points for adaptability because he does not have family in Canada or studied here.

If he is not able to get 67 points, your husband may need to find an approved job offer in Canada which means that he will have to find a job with an employer who is willing to get a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) for this job which means that your employer is able to satisfy Employment Canada that they could not find a Canadian qualified for the job being offered to you.

Each province of Canada also has their own immigration streams under their Provincial Nominee Program to meet their labour market needs.

So I would suggest that it would be good idea to get an in-depth consultation from an experienced immigration lawyer to help navigate through the different immigration programs

Here is the link to the immigration section of Lexpert which is a website that has the names of leading lawyers in different areas of law. The lawyers named are all experienced lawyers.

Hope this answers your question

Hi - I am following up to see if you still need my assistance with your question since I have not heard back from you .

Hi Joanne. İ did not expect answers over the weekend. Sorry about that.
So, my son holding a Canada passport doesn't help us with anything becauae he is only 13, is that right?
And my idea of satisfying MY wish to do a career change and study in Canada, with the probability of any change in rules & regulations in Canada AFTER COVİD-19, is possible or not?

JJL11, Expert

Hello again - Nice to hear back from you.

Since your son is only 13 years of age, he cannot help you with your PR application.

If you wish to come to Canada on a study permit after COVID 19, Canada Immigration will assess your application to see if they are satisfied that your desire to study in Canada is genuine. Factors which are important in this decision are whether your course of study in Canada is related to your previous educational background, your ties to your home country such as family and assets and whether you have a letter of acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution ( DLI) which is a school recognized by Canada Immigration and your have a necessary funds to study here.

Hope this helps.
