Hello and Welcome to JustAnswer. My name is***** will be working on your question today and I am looking forward to our conversation.

Please note that I am working from my computer and not actually texting. If you don’t answer back for a while I may not be online when you do but I will never desert you and will check back often. As well, as I am working from home it is possible that I will be interrupted but I will always return back as soon as I can. Finally, although the site offers a call option I personally do not take calls but just work online. Some find this confusing as it looks like the offer is coming from me but that is just how the site presents the offer and it really isn’t coming from me.
I am sorry to hear of this difficult situation.
Have you been living with your girlfriend as a common-law spouse for over one year?
Debra, Expert
You can move to Canada because you are a Canadian citizen. Your girlfriend may be able to enter as a visitor for two months. It is possible that she can do that because she has proof that she'll only stay there for two months. But if you want to sponsor her for permanent residency status you have to either be common law spouses for a year at least or you have to marry her.
But, you will also have the problem of the locked border and it is possible for her to accompany you as a visitor if you can show You have been in an exclusive dating relationship for at least one year. Otherwise you have to marry her before she can enter during this time.
Does that clarify the law?
Debra, Expert
She can likely enter as a visitor for two months because she can show her employment contract. If you get married and remain inside of Canada while the application is being processed that will work but if you leave she won't be able to re-enter.
Debra, Expert
She can but she has to leave Canada to get a work permit unless you're sponsoring her as your spouse. Then she would be able to get an open work permit from inside of Canada.
Debra, Expert
Sure. I can explain what you do then.

The next time you post a question on the site just be sure to say that you want Debra to answer.
Debra, Expert
No there isn't.
Debra, Expert
That truly doesn't make any sense to me.

You are very welcome.
