If you have fulfilled the residency requirements for your citizenship application at the time of your application, you can now travel outside of Canada. There is no requirement that you continuously fulfill the requirement while waiting for your application to be processed because it usually takes some time for your application to be processed.

The only requirement is that you continue to fulfil the residency requirement to retain your permanent resident status which is to live in Canada 2 years out of every 5 years.

Here is a link from Citizenship Canada on this issue

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/after-apply-next-steps.html

Hope this answers your question.

Also, if you got your PR as a refugee or protected person, travelling to your country of origin which you claimed persecution from in your refugee claim, could result in Canada Immigration taking enforcement action to take away your PR status through a vacation and cessation claim. I would strongly recommend against travelling to your country of origin.

If your PR status taken away, then your citizenship claim will not be processed.

Customer
