Expert's Assistant chat
Customer: Hello, I have a question about my immigration condition. Could you help me with that?
JA: What steps have you taken? Have you filed any paperwork with the government?
Customer: Yes, I was a student in Quebec and I have applied for the PEQ program. I'm currently living in Lisbon and because of the pandemic, my documents took too long to arrive. Instead of arriving before the 36 months delay, they have arrived in 37 months and 2 weeks.
JA: Have you talked to a lawyer about this?
Customer: Not yet.
JA: Anything else you want the Lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: Just that they have refused the application and I have 90 days to make an appeal

Please note that the experts don’t text so there may be a bit of a delay. If you don’t answer back for a while I may not be online when you do but I will never desert you and will check back often. As well, as I am working from home it is possible that I will be interrupted but I will always return back as soon as I can.

I am sorry to hear of this difficult situation.

There are no lawyers from Quebec on the site.

The immigration system for Quebec is totally separate from the rest of Canada. You have to speak to an immigration lawyer in Quebec.

What you can do to find a lawyer is one of the following things.

You can review the law society's suggestions on how to find a lawyer. Depending on where you live you may be able to consult with a lawyer for $25 for the first half hour:

https://www.barreau.qc.ca/en/find-lawyer/

Or you can check on a site called lexpert. This is a legal directory of leading lawyers and law firms throughout Canada and is well-respected by the legal community.

Here's the link to their website:

http://www.lexpert.ca/directory/find-lawyers-or-law-firms/

Does that help as a starting point?

Customer
Ok thank you. I'll try to reach a lawyer in Quebec then.
