Expert's Assistant chat
Customer: My spouse and I live in a appartment. The past few nights someone has been unlocking our door and leaving it ajar while we are sleeping. We think it's our landlord as he's the only one with a key. Any idea what we should do?
JA: What province are you in? It matters because laws vary by location.
Customer: Burnaby bc
JA: What steps have you taken so far?
Customer: None. We dont want to accuse him as we have already had multiple problems with him and we are not sure what the rcmp will say.
JA: Anything else you want the Lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: No

Please note that the experts don’t text so there may be a bit of a delay. If you don’t answer back for a while I may not be online when you do but I will never desert you and will check back often. As well, as I am working from home it is possible that I will be interrupted but I will always return back as soon as I can.

I am sorry to hear of this difficult situation.

I think you should report this to the RCMP. You do not have to state that you are sure this is your landlord. You should just call the RCMP and ask for help. You can tell them that you fear for your safety.

They are not going to run off and charge anyone but this is a criminal offence and they should do a proper investigation and then you'll be safe.

Does that make sense?

Customer
Absolutely. Thankyou.
