Hello – My name is ***** ***** I’m happy to assist you today. I am a Canadian lawyer who is able to answer immigration law questions.

Can you tell me under what immigration category the principal applicant is applying for PR under ? Did you want to know whether you can apply for a new work permit while waiting for your PR application to be processed ? Can you also tell me when the PR application was submitted ?

Thanks

Customer

JJL11, Expert

Hello again - As a a dependent of a PR application, you can apply for another open work permit as long as Canada Immigration has acknowledged receipt of you and your spouse's PR application.

Hope this answers your question.

Customer
Hi JJ,
To file Another open work permit just PR Application acknowledged receipt is enough or do I need my husband extended work permit
img

JJL11, Expert

You should submit both documents.

Customer

Customer

The published processing time for inland work permit applications is 100 days so it does not make a difference if you file by paper or online.

On the IMM 5710e form which is the Inland Work Permit application form, in section 3 of the first section of the form on page 1, you choose the third option which is 'Application for work permit for the first time " and on page 3, in section 1 under the section heading of 'Details of Intended Work', you choose 'open work permit' in the scroll down menu.

Here is the link to the form

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-5553-applying-change-conditions-extend-your-stay-canada-worker-paper.html

Hope this answers your question.

A further comment - the paper application gives you more flexibility with what documents you can include with your applications and you can write a bit more on the form if you want to explain why you are entitled to a work permit which the online system does not allow so you may want to use the paper system.

Customer
I filled up form IMM 5710e. But in system Ask for mandate doc my hubby WP which I do not hv as company is extending

Customer

Customer

Customer
Planning to write one letter to. Write down my story in short

JJL11, Expert

No, the form does not ask for your PR application information.

As long as you completed the form and submitted proof of your PR application as well as the other documents you mentioned, you should be fine because when Canada Immigration looks up your name and Client ID number, they will see in their system, that you have applied for PR.

Hope this answers your question.

Customer
Hi Joanne,
Thanks a lot for information all you gave , I am very much on track now
Customer
Can I apply n take job offer if got selected
Customer
What to tell to employer as my wp will expire n I applied for extension
Customer
If I get new WP what would be expiry for that ?
img

JJL11, Expert

You are very welcome.

You can tell a potential employer that you are waiting for your new work permit and that you have applied for PR .

Is your current work permit an open work permit ?

Customer
my current WP is open WP
img

JJL11, Expert

In that case, you can continue to work with this work permit for a new employer. If your current work permit expires before your new one is issued, you have 'implied status' until you receive a decision on your new work permit application so you can continue to work.

Customer
Is there any benefit m I applicable during my job search period as I HV put my son in Daycare
img

JJL11, Expert

I am aware of the Canada Recovery Caregiver Benefit which is income supplement for those who cannot work because they have to care for their children under 12 years of age but I am not aware of a COVID related special benefit to help pay for your day care while you look for work other than the regular day care subsidy you can apply for.

If you want to apply for a daycare subsidy, I would suggest that you speak to the daycare your child is attending to get more information.

Hope this helps.

Customer
How does Canada Recovery Caregiver Benefit works
img

JJL11, Expert

Here is the link to the CRCB website which explains eligibility and how to apply. As with the other COVID benefits, you have to apply through the Canada Revenue Agency with your online account or by phone.

https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/benefits/recovery-caregiving-benefit/crcb-who-apply.html

Customer
Hi Joanne. I understood what u said on benefits with your guidance

Customer
Also my son new visitors visa applied as curre one is ending on 15 march However his passport has been renewed which is getting expired in sep 2021. So Visitor Visa do I need file again for him n when
img

JJL11, Expert

Yes, you need to extend his visitor visa so that he remains in status until you all get your permanent resident status.

Customer
My husband put his visitor Visa extension n not yet received
Customer
But in between we renewed his passport
Customer
Passport will expire on sep 2021
img

JJL11, Expert

In that case, I would upload a copy of his new passport to Canada Immigration.

Customer
How to connect direct to immigration as my hubby applied visitor Visa extension thru his company
img

JJL11, Expert

In that case I would send a Web Form Inquiry to Canada Immigration to inform them that your son has a new passport

Here is the link to the Web Form

Customer
As I applied Pr in June 2021 .It's almost 10 months over. How long to expect ?
Is it expect late bcoz of covid-19
Customer

JJL11, Expert

Are you still asking about your son's visitor visa extension or your PR application ?

Customer
Pr application
Customer
If like connect u in future , how to
Customer
My email I'd***@******.***
img

JJL11, Expert

I would suggest that you send in a Web Form Inquiry to Canada Immigration to inquire about the delay with your PR application but the delay is most probably due to slowdowns in processed caused by COVID 19.

If you have other questions to ask me later on, you request me specifically at JustAnswer and you can put your question to my attention only so that I can give it priority.

Customer
Hi m trying to fill up form for CRCB benefits ,m not getting what to select in tab you HV earned 5000
Customer
Also shall I choose this box as I didn't earned any money last year
Customer
Also n I tried applying online but lastly I got option to call CRA
img

JJL11, Expert

You may not be eligible if you had no income in 2019, 2020 or in the 12 months period before the date you are applying for the CRCB because this is one of the eligibility criteria

Did your spouse have this income ? Perhaps he can apply if he is not working or his work hours have been reduced.

Customer
I get child benefits
Customer
This won't be included
img

JJL11, Expert

Employment and self employment income and EI maternity and parental benefits count but child tax benefits do not. However, you can all CRA to verify this to get a definitive answer.

Customer
Okay m not eligible then got it
img

JJL11, Expert

If you want , you can verify with CRA just to make sure.

Customer
I need to call them to verify
img

JJL11, Expert

Yes that would be the fastest way. Here is the link for the phone number to call

https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/benefits/recovery-caregiving-benefit/crcb-contact.html

It is best to call first thing in the morning not on a Monday so the wait time is not as long.
