Please note that the experts don’t text so there may be a bit of a delay. If you don’t answer back for a while I may not be online when you do but I will never desert you and will check back often. As well, as I am working from home it is possible that I will be interrupted but I will always return back as soon as I can.
You are right this isn't really a question for lawyer but since my daughter went to med school at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario I can answer you.
Your son may be able to get provincial funding because he's a Canadian citizen and will be living in one province depending on where the med school is. But that will not be anywhere near enough.
What the med students do is they can get special lines of credit with the bank. Because they are going to be in med school they are treated differently than other students. They can get a much larger loan, they can get more each year as they go to med school and on top of that while interest runs they do not have to pay anything including their interest which will accumulate until after they graduate and even then they can extend it further until the after they complete their residency training.
When they get provincial funding they have to start paying it back when they graduate so what they do is they use their line of credit to pay off the provincial loan so they don't have to pay interest on that.
Does that help?

Our latest premier has made OSAP less accessible. It seems your son has to live in Ontario for at least 12 months when not attending post-secondary school before he is elgible.
McMaster is actually cheaper than other schools as the do the 4 years in 3 by going through the summers.
Here are the fees:
Year 1: $26,126.64
Year 2: $26,126.64
Year 3: $26,126.64
U of T Year 1 is $24,834.42
I cannot find the other years. But they will be around the same but it's 4 years.
