Please note that the experts don’t text so there may be a bit of a delay. If you don’t answer back for a while I may not be online when you do but I will never desert you and will check back often. As well, as I am working from home it is possible that I will be interrupted but I will always return back as soon as I can.
I am sorry to hear of this difficult situation.
I am going to bed but I didn’t want you to sit waiting all night. I will check back in the morning. In the meantime please let me know your province.

Does your landlord live in the house?
Debra, Expert
Your landlord has to provide you with a written notice of eviction. That notice has to set out the grounds for eviction.
Then you can ignore that notice and then to evict you your landlord has to apply to the landlord and tenant Board for an order for eviction. There will be a hearing where you will be able to fight the eviction.
Given what you've told me there are no grounds for eviction.
No your landlord cannot prevent you from having guests It is your home and you can even have someone live with you if it doesn't cause overcrowding.
You can take this nasty man to the landlord tenant board yourself for an order that he cease and desist from harassing you and you can seek a rent abatement because his conduct has deprived you of your right to peaceful enjoyment of your home.
He has to provide a notice in writing before he enters the home.
Does that help?

Are you asking if I think it's OK to show him our discussion?
Debra, Expert
It won't hurt you at all.
Debra, Expert
I think you are completely fine without any papers and I think that you are being treated terribly and you may get a bit of a rent abatement.
