Hello and Welcome to JustAnswer. My name is***** will be working on your question today and I am looking forward to our conversation.

I am sorry to hear of this difficult situation.
What province are you in please?
When is the last time you spoke with your union?
Debra, Expert
And what did they say on Thursday - that they were still working on it?
Debra, Expert
Part of the reason for the delay would be Covid of course but this is unacceptable.
I think you should speak to the union one more time and tell them that you have been advised that they owe you a duty of fair representation and that if they do not exercise that duty and represent you fairly you will have no choice but to file a complaint against them with the labour board. You can do that and seek damages from them.
The reason why this is important is that you cannot go against your employer yourself. You can't fight for yourself because you do not have an independent employment contract with them. The employment contract is the collective agreement and the parties to the contract are the employer and the union.
Do you see what I mean?

Great.
I hope things work out.

I am retired so I cannot help.
But you can contact the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association and use their Lawyer Referral Service. You will be given the name of a lawyer and can consult with the lawyer and the first half hour will be $25.
