Hello! My name is Debra (formerly known as Legal Ease). Thank you for your question. I'm reviewing it now, and will post back again shortly.

Debra, Expert

That is correct the days you are working for the diplomat employer count as days inside of Canada.

So you are fine to go ahead and apply for citizenship if counting these days gives you the right number of days.

Does that help?

Please feel free to post back with any follow-up questions you may have. If you don't have any then I hope I have earned a 5 star rating but if you don't feel that I have please don't hesitate to reply back and let me know what more I can do to assist you. Finally, please know that even after you rate me I will be here for you and you can ask follow-up questions if you think of them later on at no further charge of course.

You cannot apply for citizenship while living in the US.

You have to be permanently living in Canada and then when you have made the residency requirements you can apply.

Customer
But if I already met the requirements can’t I apply
img

Debra, Expert

It's not likely that you will succeed if you are not living in Canada.

Customer
If I’m in Canada and I file for citizenship do I to remain in Canada for the response? Since my legal husband lives in the US?

Debra, Expert

You can leave and come back for the interview. You have to apply from inside of Canada.

Yes the application is still valid.

You can say the passport was lost and then see if they want a sworn declaration.
