Hello - My name is Joanne. I am a Canadian lawyer and I'm happy to assist you.

Can you tell me what family members want to come to Canada to visit you and whether you are a Canadian permanent resident or citizen ?

Customer
I am a Canadian citizen and my family members are both parents. They have regular visitor visas valid for 10 years, and they plan to stay here for about 6 months. Their PR sponsorship for parents is underway. Do they need to bring a self-isolation plan when entering Canada?

Under the Government of Canada's current COVID 19 travel restrictions, your parents will be allowed to visit you and will be allowed entry to Canada because they are your "immediate family members" under the travel guidelines. Their relationship with you will be verified before boarding so your parents need to bring proof of your status in Canada, such as your citizenship card and your birth certificate which has their names on it.

Once you they arrive in Canada, they will have to inform the port of entry officer that they have a quarantine plan which includes where they are going to live, how they will get to this place, who will be buying their groceries and accessing medical care and other essential services.
