Are you saying that the agreement was that you would pay $360 each?

If you are referring to the call offer I don't take calls anyway.

I suggest you tell them you had an agreement. You went by far further than you had to to help them with their sides that were in no way part of your responsiblity.

Then you can say that you expect them to adhere to the terms of the agreement just as you are and if they aren't happy you are very content to have a court decide.

It doesn't make sense that he's taking a position because he is the one that said he wanted to take the fence down and asked you to share in the cost. Why would you be paying all of the cost yourself?

They would have to sue him if the overpaid him.
