Customer: Animal Services in Winnipeg, MB came and took my dogs. Told me if i didn't comply they would come with a warrant. They say there's been several complaints in the neighbourhood (which they just had in this letter). There was an incident at christmas, but the judge agreed with me. The Chief of Animal services finally called me back only to say he wasn't giving my dogs back. That i can't control them because of my back. i have degenerative disc disease and had 2 back surgeries. That's discrimination, which i'm following up with Human Rights. there's lots more to this story. There's a neighbourhood watch guy that is always around this house. He's been caught taunting me dogs, then saying to me that me or my dogs aren't going to be here for long. Also a dog just down the street killed another dog and is house quarantined. I need help getting my boys back. they are good dogs, yes they have anxiety issues that i've been working on - with my vet and have contacted a one on one trainer. Because of this pandemic things aren't proceeding as quickly as we'd all want. This is so unfair. The 82 year old gentleman that i reside with is devastated as well. He adores the dogs and is finally comfortable in his own home. He was a victim of a home invasion. He says they're gentle dogs but look intimidating.
JA: What state is this in? It matters because laws vary by location.
Customer: i'm in Winnipeg Manitoba
JA: What steps have been taken so far?
Customer: I've talked to lawyers here, no one is familar and want a huge retainer, i cannot afford. I've talked to Human Rights and the Humane Society.
JA: Anything else you want the Lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: Also the Ombudsman, which is something they cannot help with

Hi, thank you for contacting Just Answer. Counsel Creed here. What EXACTLY is your question? What I would suggest ath you do FIRST is file a formal appeal of the Animal Services" decision to apprehend your dogs to the Animal Care Appeal Boars, pursuant to the Animal Care Act of Manitoba. In fact they had the obligation to notify you of your right to appeal and the deadline for doing it.

I guess my overall question is if someone can help me get my dogs back? I dont' know who or where to go to do these things. Anyone I've spoken to this far doesn't know or directs me in any way. Is there a website I can go to to find this document to file a formal appeal?
Customer
I think for now, texting is fine. I realize you want more $, but I need to feel you can really help me before I keep spending $, to talk, then probably more for a little more info, that's not really getting me any further in getting my dogs back.

Well, I cannot directly help you from here. but I can tell you what steps to take. You have to file a notice of appeal with the Animal Care Appeal Board. You can phone them at:(###) ###-#### or toll free in Manitoba 1-***-***-****. You have to act fast.
