Hi, thank you for contacting Just Answer. Counsel Creed. What have you been charged with and when is your first court date?
Counsel Creed, Expert
you see, the seven-day impoundment is MINIMUM. Road Safety BC is notified and staff will review your driving record. If your driving record is unsatisfactory, the term of impoundment may be lengthened. A 30-day hold will be imposed id this was your second driving infraction. After the impoundment period ENDS, the owner of the vehicle, will have to first go to a driver licensing office with their valid driver’s licence and the Notice of Impoundment. A Request for Vehicle Release form will be completed and the licensing office will fax it to the impound lot. Then the owner must go the impoundment lot , show their valid driver’s licence and pay all towing and storage costs before the vehicle will be released.
HOWEVER, an early release (i.e. earlier than 30 days) is possible. Someone with a valid B.C. driver’s licence who resides with the driver or is in business with the driver may request a review to have the vehicle released from impoundment early on compassionate or economic hardship grounds

...here is a link that will explain in detail HOW TO APPLY FOR AN EARLY RELEASE:

Hi, again. Do you have more questions for me?
Counsel Creed, Expert
Ok, so you will deal with the impoundment the way I explained about in GREAT DETAIL - especially look more deeply into the ways of getting the early release of the truck. As far as the court matter is concerned, this is what I suggest: you should appear in the Traffic Court say 15-20 minutes earlier. Ask to speak with the Crown prosecutor. See whether or not you can strike a deal; for example: waiver of demerit points, or lessening of the fine. If you believe that you are NOT GUILTY, you will state that to the judge and a trail date will be set.

Ok, so if you accept the responsibility for one offence and not for the other - you can plead "guilty" on driving-without-licence (and the judge will give you a sentence on the spot), AND "not guilty" on the speeding charge. The outcome of the trial will depend on WHOSE EVIDENCE the judge prefers - yours or the Crown's.

It is entirely your call . Again the length of impoundment is NOT TIED TO YOUR court appearance.

same comment

...it goes without saying that (unless you get your truck before the court), you plead guilty to both offences - your truck will be released that day.

makes sense to me

That is it. If you have no further questions, will you kindly rate me at your end, since that is the only way that I will get paid? Thank you.

I note that you have not yet rated me. Perhaps you can draw your mind to it now? Thank you.
