Booked a flight to Edmonton for May weekend with FlightHub. we want a refund, they want to give us a credit with travel

Expert's Assistant chat
Customer: Booked a flight to Edmonton for May long weekend with FlightHub. we want a refund, they want to give us a credit with travel to the same place and with the same carrier-this flight using WestJet and AC plus they want to charge $25 person for the change. The travel must be made within 8 mos. What are my rights. Asked to speak to a supervisor-policy is I can't as they are busy. We have no reason to go back to Edmonton that is why I want a refund. Again what are my rights?
JA: What state is this in? And just to clarify, when was the purchase made?
Customer: Sorry in Canada. Purchase was made in February. I did not purchase insurance.
JA: Have you contacted the seller or manufacturer?
Customer: Yes contacted FlightHub. Were not helpful as I asked for a refund. Aske to speak ta supervisor-they were "unavailalble"
JA: Anything else you want the Lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: I did not realise this was a US site. Any cost?

The site is in the US but I am in Toronto.

We are all in the same situation right now. WestJet and Air Canada are refusing refunds at this time and are stating that we get credit to our account.

It is likely the case that there will be legislation that requires them to pay everyone back because in fact the law already requires it. They are now in breach of the law.

If not I understand there will be class action lawsuit in the next while.

The other route that you can take is to do a charge back with your credit card company if you paid by credit card. The reason why I am not doing that right now is that my understanding is if that I do that with WestJet I will never be able to fly WestJet again and if the world ever goes back to normal I want to be able to have that option still.

Also, your credit card may have travel cancellation insurance. Mine does and I have been told that I ca prove that I am refusing WestJet's credit then they will cover me up to my limit. I'm not doing that because I was travelling with 3 of my kids and the costs went over my coverage limit.

Does that help?

Please feel free to post back with any follow-up questions you may have. If you don't have any then I hope I have earned a 5 star rating but if you don't feel that I have please don't hesitate to reply back and let me know what more I can do to assist you. Finally, please know that even after you rate me I will be here for you and you can ask follow-up questions if you think of them later on at no further charge of course.

everything is on hold till government takes action? Class action lawsuit is done individually? The reps at Flighthub were not helpful. I couldn't even talk to a supervisor plus wanted me to pay another 25$ /person to cancel. What do you recommend I do next as my flight to change is in a month.

I don't think everything is on hold.

If you don't care about flying with them again I would simply do the charge back with the credit card company or if you have flight cancellation insurance use it.

If you care then you can wait and see if a law firm is going to sue these airlines. We will all be part of the class action lawsuit and won't have to do a thing individually.

Customer
Thank for your help. Didn't know where to turn to for answers and still wanted to state my ground. Is there a document stating customer's rights when flying ?
Customer
Again thanks! This is a good service! I will share. Have a great day!
