I can't tell you specifically how it would affect your credit - but certainly it CAN affect your credit negatively - in the same way that not paying credit card bills or any loan can affect your credit negatively.

They can send the account to collections, report it to credit bureaus, etc., which really can only have a negative effect on your credit.
